Primary Purpose:

Assist the school principal in overall administration of instructional programs and campus level operations. The associate principal will use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student in the assigned building. This position will include assuming responsibilities of building operations during the principals' absence. 

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Master’s degree in Educational Administration

Texas Principal Certification or appropriate certificate

Three years experience as classroom teacher

Experience as Secondary Assistant Principal and/or Instructional Leadership preferred

Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) trained

 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Participate in development and evaluation of educational programs; participate in professional development activities; monitor instructional programs; encourage and support a climate for learning and instruction. 
  2. Work closely with the counseling team to ensure the students are appropriately scheduled into classes aligned with their college/career path.
  3. Serves in lead role over Assistant Principals, coordinates all administrative roles including student discipline, parent communication, teacher performance.
  4. Oversees required standardized testing and prepares and distributes required data about student performance to students, parents, and faculty.
  5. Lead professional learning and/or data meetings.
  6. Promote a positive, caring environment for learning. 
  7. Display a professional understanding of Special Programs, Special Education, Bilingual Educations, and 504 School/Organizational Improvement.
  8. Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences. Serve as a second appraiser for the designated teacher appraisal system.
  9. Supervise campus operations in the principal's absence.
  10. Help plan daily school activities by participants in development of class schedules, teacher assignments and extracurricular activity schedules.
  11. Work with department heads and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on document program needs. 
  12. Ensure that students are adequately supervised. 
  13. Assist in the management of the student discipline system that results in positive student behavior. 
  14. Identify and arrange for staff development opportunities. 
  1. Exhibit excellent communication skills with staff, parents, and students.
  2. Coordinate alignment of CTE courses to advance career pathways in collaboration with district personnel, university contracts, and other pertinent parties.
  3. Work in collaboration with campus staff and district personnel to ensure implementation of CCMR requirements are met and systems are developed accordingly.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise and evaluate the work of professional staff as assigned by the school principal. Direct the work of teachers, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel and others as assigned.
